wait....rewind....yep, that's what he said....hmmmmm

someone left a message on our machine today...on the business line....the one listed in the phone book under our business name....which is our last name + "landscaping"......our last name is spanish......

"Hi, I'm looking for a gardener. Do you give free estimates? I have a couple of other questions too. What kind of employees do you use? Do you use mexican's or asian workers? i don't want any mexicans in my yard. so if you use mexicans i don't need the estimate."

hubby1 didn't return the call....our boys happen to be hispanic.....when dad is hispanic, the offspring tend to be also....funny how that works....

not sure why he picked our company.....

  2. I just don't understand people's priorities anymore. How about asking the question, "I'd like to know if your company does quality work and you are trustworthy." I think that is what would be important. Not the color of your skin.

  3. i could understand asking if all our employees have the legal right to work in the country, but that's not the impression i got from the message.

  4. Your husband or sons should have called them back using a STRONG Mexican accent as they gave the estimate over the phone!

Really. How sad. For the caller.

  7. The ignorance of some folks is amazing. I'm actually partly Hispanic, even with the name Sullivan and my pasty skin. You can't see the blood, but it's there. I'm amazed by how many people deride Hispanic people in my presence just because they think I'm on the same weird mental boat they're on because I'm very white. Bizarre.

  9. Just popping by (nice place ya have here by the way) to let you know that Jane! from Emptying The Nest will be guest blogging tomorrow--and I know you will have missed her as much as I have.

please come and say hello to her-maybe we can get her to come back like blogging. Kind of like bringing a box of wine to the intervention.
