escaping the heat

It's been 100+ in our neck of the desert for the past few days, so yesterday we jumped on the boat and headed out to Catalina Island for lunch.   It always amazes me it can be so much cooler and cloudy just an hour away.   The channel was full of pods of dolphins who chased the boat and played in the waves--always a blast to watch them.   After a pleasant lunch and wandering around the shops, we jumped back on the boat and headed home.   Never found the blue whales that are hanging off the coast, but it still an incredible way to beat the heat.
