more wedding pics

the last post had some pics taken with my phone......here are some from the professionals.    Nick Corona Photography rocks!

just a wee bit busy

Sunday was WEDDING DAY!!!!  The weather was uncommonly cool for late June in our desert (mid 80's with a slight breeze).   We navigated through all the broken bones, a broken mainline at our house on Friday, and all the other bumps in the road and the wedding was perfect!

I didn't have much opportunity to snap pictures but here are a couple of girl1 before the ceremony.

(this is was the first time she tried on her dress....just to show the back)

and some shots from the rehearsal:

all the hearts on their shirts light up when they are close together and then dim as they are further apart....they are such geeks.

Can't wait to see the professional pictures....they will be posted as soon as we get them.
and now I'm off to get caught up on paperwork and sneak away for a dinner date with my hubby.

wedding countdown...6 days to go

on the monday before the wedding, these were the phone calls received:
1 espresso machine is broken

1 photographer broke her foot

1 pianist broke his right arm

1 bridesmaid's flight was cancelled

the bride-to-be found all this humorous.....

I love her wacky sense of humor!

how about a list?

1.    i'm still angry about the Halloween fireworks deal at Disneyland.   Not in a "dwelling on it continously" sort of way--just in a "when I think about it, it ticks me off" sort of way.

2.  stuff for the wedding needs to get done and I'm not really motivated to do it and this could cause some problems.  really need to just kick myself in the behind and make some phone calls.

3.  it's been uber hot in SoCal this week....please join us in praying that we get a beautiful in the mid-80's day on June 27th.    who's the idiot who planned an outdoor wedding in June?

4.  hubby1 got popped for talking on his cellphone while driving last week.......twice......aarrrrrggggghhhhh

5.  the dilemna about bluetooth for him?  he's deaf in one ear...if he wears a bluetooth, he can't hear anything.   looking at other options.....

6.  sometimes i hate that my friends have discovered texting.....if you want to have a full conversation call me.  texting is for things like..."hey, i'm going to be 5 min. late"  "can you pick up milk on the way home" ...not "how are you" "what are you doing" "i'm sitting at the ____ and i'm bored...talk to me"...gah!

7.  my garden is rockin' it this year....we're pulling 2-3 zucchini a day...remind me how excited i was about this in august when i start complaining about eating zucchini every meal....

8.  seeing Chorus Line tonight...it's hard to believe that this is the first time I've seen a professionally staged production of it....

9.  tonight's show was supposed to be the touring production of "101 Dalmations:the Musical" but the tour closed early...wow, shocker.....

10.   it's also an election day here in California...which means that the stupid TV ads will finally stop....ptl!

11.  want to make sure i don't vote for you?   call me 20 times a day and tell me how great you are and how much your opponent sucks...seriously....i'll vote for your opponent just cuz you pissed me off

off to pay bills and try to find event insurance for the wedding (which is a total rip-off, but required for most venues now)...have a wonderful Tuesday!

where, oh where have I been?

not sure anyone's been losing sleep over the lack of updates in my corner of the world,  but I miss updating the blog.    It's been a crazy week.   A friend (who owns a theatre company) had her light tech quit right before dress rehearsals began, so I've been running the board for her shows this past weekend.

We also shot the two productions that she is currently producing.   We've moved our business online, so we'll see how it works out.    Girl1 outdid herself with the pics....they are stinkin' fantastic!

(These are my pics; hers are at http://saizphotography.zenfolio.com/)

A coworker/friend was in a major car accident on Saturday morning, so that's been weighing heavy on our hearts.

Mother's day was nice...movies and dinner with hubby1 and girl1.   messages from the boys (cuz I never answer my phone...lol)  We saw Iron Man 2 and the theater stopped the projection before the end of the credits.....do they not realize that there's a teaser at the end?  really?   girl1 took care of it.

worked hard yesterday and ran away to disneyland today.   park was EMPTY!  and the weather was PERFECT!
just look at that view!  (from the Mickey and Friends parking structure)

spent just a few hours there but it was just what i needed.   you can read more about it at the other blog.

that's about it.  memorial service, bridal shower and theatre stuff this weekend....should be interesting.

a favorite pic and other randomness

So much coming up in the next few weeks, that I've been running away to Disney as often as possible to get my fix.   lol

Here's my favorite pic from last week:

There are more pics from the Disneyland Street Party/Parade over on my Disney blog.  Feel free to check them out.

We have a photo shoot at our favorite theatre this week.  They're doing "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" AND "Putnam County Spelling Bee."  We're shooting both shows and individual cast pictures Thursday night--we're preparing for a very hectic evening.

The wedding plans are moving along nicely.   This month appears to be "pay the balance due" month, so I'll be writing lots of checks.  Invitations have been mailed and responses are trickling in.  We've asked everyone to respond to a website instead of giving them a response card to mail.   Yeah for technology!  Save a tree and a few stamps!

Boy1 survived the ugly weather in Nashville this weekend with minor flooding in his apartment.  Classes have been cancelled today and the college kids are thrilled to have another day to study.   Finals are rapidly approaching.

Boy2 appears to be loving Alaska.  Work has been off and on, but  he's making enough to pay the bills.  We get random pictures of moose from him.   weirdo....

Girl1 is working for the census for the next 6 weeks.   Can't wait to hear the stories!  lol

That's about it ...off to have some coffee and get some chores done around the house.  I have more of them to do now that all the offspring have left...but the house doesn't seem to be as dirty as it was.  It all balances out.  =D

finally friday17.....the one with loads of wedding stuff

it's friday...the end of a week filled with wedding stuff.

Sunday - girl1's fitting and bridesmaid dress purchasing.  I also managed to bonk my head on hubby1's truck and had a headache for 3 days.   but other than that, it was a perfect day.

Monday - my head hurt and i was a little out of  it all day.  i think i managed to do some paperwork.

Tuesday - boy2 moved to Alaska.  i had a dentist appt.   a girlfriend took me out to lunch....cuz this week could have also been titled "girl time"

Wednesday - wedding invitations were assembled and envelopes addressed.   just need to be stuffed and put in the mail.  we're way ahead on this one.  the bridesmaids and sil2b's family came over to help.

Thursday - jewelry party so girl1 could earn some free stuff.   it was an awesome evening filled with irish coffee, chocolate, pretty jewelry and wonderful friends
Friday - bills, laundry, rest.....

tomorrow -- ALICE IN WONDERLAND AT THE IMAX!!!!   with the girlfriends.....

it's been a great week!   what are your plans for the weekend?

Finally Friday16ish....the one with ADD

It's been awhile but here's a "write-it-down-and-get-it-out-of-my-head,so-I-can-focus-on-the-weekend" post.   My brain is in list mode, so this will have to be also.

1.  The menfolk will be back tomorrow evening.  They've been snowboarding in Utah for a week.

2.  Sunday I judged 2 musicals...."Alice in Wonderland" and "Rent: the student edition."   Probably not the best combination of shows to see back-to-back and may I say (of course, I may...it's my blog) that I don't think that 14-19 year olds should be doing "Rent."   They sang it okay but they don't really have the life experiences or maturity to perform it.

3.  Captain EO has returned to Disneyland for a limited time.   hahahahaha   I saw it yesterday (yes, I was at Disneyland again..you can follow those adventures over there)   My kids are gonna die when they see it....it really is bad (and not in the 80's good way).   If you go to the park, take the time to experience it....just for kicks.

4.  And on the subject of Disneyland,  the Electrical Light Parade is leaving in April with no plans to bring it back to the west coast.  This makes me sad.

5.  I'm judging another show tonight..."Cinderella Enchanted"....I think I'm on musical overload.

6.  Wedding plans are moving along.   Invitations are printed and will be assembled on Wednesday.  Bridesmaids dresses are being purchased (hopefully) on Sunday.  We met with the caterer and are just waiting for her estimate.  Music is being selected.   We're pretty much just passing time until the big day.

7.  Boy2 is moving to Alaska on Tuesday.   Homer, Alaska.   Good thing he likes snow.  Crazy kid.

8.  best blog line of the morning:   release my inner Godzilla upon Internet Tokyo  go ahead....check it out, I'll wait.   but you have to promise to come back...

9.  someone has started a "people of the park" website that is like "people of walmart"....so now you can check out disneyland fashion faux pas there and at Thumper Awards.

10.  It's suppose to rain again and the top of my car is still leaking.

11.  I'm on my 3rd cup of coffee and my head still hurts.  Maybe it's not a caffeine headache....ugh.

and it's 10:30 so I should probably move along.....have a fantastic weekend!!!!

she picked orchids

On our first trip to looked floral arrangements for the wedding, girl1 was shown flowers and asked to pick the ones she liked.  She picked orchids...not just any orchid, but the 2 most expensive ones in the book.  gotta love her!

She was also told that she is too short to carry a full cascading bouquet but will have to do with something a little smaller so it doesn't overwhelm her.   lol

And we discovered that flowers are MUCH more expensive than we hoped.  We totally under-budgeted in this category.   BUT we did pick up a photo shoot for Friday that could help make up the difference.  And that's how God works and we are thankful that He knows the desires of our hearts and chooses to bless.

Then we came home and got serious about the guest list and that completely fell into order and we think we'll be able to put some people back on the "A" list.  Rating your friends is the worst part of this planning thing and we'll be glad to finalize the list and move on.

bride expo #1

yesterday we visited our first bride expo.  quite an experience.  we basically came home with a bag full of business cards....i have a more comprehensive list of  vendors that i've pulled from the internet.

we were hoping to see samples of place settings and floral arrangements but most of the vendors just had a banner and flyers/business cards.  we did make appointments with a couple of florists who took the time to set up displays.

fell in love with a band who played in the courtyard but were told that their cost is several thousand dollars for 3 hours, so we'll just play their cd.  lol

and here's some helpful hints for any vendor who might stumble upon this:
1.  don't wear black....everyone was in a black tux or black cocktail dress

2.  if you are displaying reception decorations....don't use pink tulle and please drape it nicely......wish i had a picture of the pink brothel booth...

3.  if you are a caterer and offering truffles....they should be uniform in shape and size....those coconut covered turds were not appealing

4.  it helps if you can speak and understand english....

5.  breath mints...nuff said

6.  artistic pictures of a thin bride with back fat aren't going to get you hired.  if you can't make a skinny girl look nice, most brides are going to walk away....

cute couple

girl1 and sil2b had their engagement pictures taken this week.....at disneyland....lol

Nick Corona Photography....excellent work.......can't wait to see his wedding photos....so excited!

the list just keeps getting shorter

we now have a reception location and a photographer.   you can check out his website here:  www.nickcoronaphotography.com     girl1 knew immediately that he had to shoot her wedding!

at the end of last week, we sat down to look at where we stood budget-wise and it didn't look like there would be any food at the reception.  But God is good (all the time), and discounts have been offered and reception time has been shortened and it looks much better today.

now, if we could just find a caterer who will catch our dessert reception vision..........how hard is it to understand beautiful, rich chocolate desserts and an espresso bar?

more wedding stuff

and now there is a location and a date!

next on the agenda?   the guest list.....ugh....we started last night.  ended up with over 200 people (which is the target number) and that was just our family's list.   the groom has a large family too.   ranking your friends and family is just icky, but cuts must be made.

houston..we have a dress

Last night, girl1, her moh(maid of honor)and I went to look at wedding dresses.   Seriously, we just went to look at them and have her try on a few to see what style(s) she likes.

We were there 3 hours.  We basically played Barbie doll. She tried on princess dresses, strapless dresses, poofy dresses, straight dresses, sleeveless dresses and then....

she tried on an off-the-shoulder dress that has a 40's look to it and everyone in the shop said "oh!"

Her dress will be here in 12 weeks.

don't forget about the giveaway at thumperawards.blogspot.com.

it's official!!!

this crazy little girl is now ENGAGED!!!!!!

they are growing up so quickly.....
