it's been awhile but it's hard to put together coherent sentences with my work schedule. here's an update from my corner of the world:
1. still love my job....most of the time....see #2
2. accepted a promotion....received some of the most sporadic training you can imagine...being forced to learn as I go which isn't really comfortable for me
3. not sure why people have to play stupid high school games....if you have a problem with someone, just speak with them....
4. boy1 is graduating from college on May 5....seems like he just moved to nashville....
5. still enjoying the Lexus....it's nice to have a car which actually works
6. there's a cruise on the horizon....well ...in september....but that's close enough to start being excited about it....

finally friday...the one with the car update
it's been a couple weeks....and just in case anyone is still interested in my crazy corner of the world, here's a quick rundown on what's on my mind.
1. trying to decide if i want to apply for full-time at work. it would give us health insurance and some other cool benefits...but it makes it seem so much more like a "real" job instead of a fun place to get paid for playing.
2. parenting is not always fun...even when the kids are adults...
3. in May, I video taped my sunroof not responding; sent the video to my attorneys; they sent it the powers that be; those powers agreed to repurchase my car. I sent in all the requested documentation of my expenses and have heard nothing....absolutely NOTHING....so done with this whole saga.
4. I've already chosen my new car....which really makes driving the current one less enjoyable.
5. Note to pretty much everyone ...if you request information from someone and they email it to you, please send a confirmation of receipt. If you choose not to confirm, don't get all pissy when you start receiving daily emails asking if you received the information.
6. actual email received in response to my daily emails in #5...."in court but I got all your emails and we are working on resolution and will be in touch soon"...lol He can take time to write an email from court but his secretary can't write one from her desk at the office.

It's Friday and time to wrap up the week and toss it out so we can enjoy the weekend. Since I started working, Friday has become my Monday ....except for the weeks when Thursday is my Monday and then Friday is my Tuesday but yeah....whatever.....you get the idea.
I've been off work since Monday (well, technically Tuesday morning at 3 am but again...yeah...whatever...) and don't have to clock in until 10:30 tonight which has made for a nice mini vacation week. In which I did nothing but catch up on paperwork, take my car to the shop, go to the dentist and clean the house....awesome....
I'm out of sorts today and not really sure why. Been dealing with a couple icky issues lately, but I think one has been resolved (finally....and may I just insert here that people are stupid?)
I have four more nights of crazy late shifts and then move to mornings for a few days. I like being in the parks during the daylight hours...but switching back and forth from closing to opening shifts makes sleeping difficult.
It's a holiday weekend...and there will be crazy folks camping out in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle from opening until fireworks on the 4th....again....yeah...whatever....it's their holiday and they can spend it however they choose....
and that pretty much concludes the "waste my readers' time" post for the day....i apologize....but yeah....whatever.....

time for a quick recap of the week....
This week has been crazy busy. Spring break runs about 6 weeks at work and that means mandatory shift extensions and 6 day work-weeks. It doesn't seem possible that you could extend a shift that ends at 1:15 in the morning but I frequently find myself there until 2:45.
I earned my ears on Sunday which means I can now apply to be trained in different areas and that I have successfully completed my probation at the happiest place on earth. woohoo!
Once again, spring and winter are disagreeing about what season it is. Summer even showed up early in the week with temps in the 90s but winter staged a comeback yesterday and sent snow to Southern California. Yep, snow in April at 2500 ft. We managed to get the garden covered before it hit....hopefully, the little plants will survive.
I finally managed to file our taxes on Thursday....I don't think I've ever been this late before. I was really afraid that we'd owe this year since we lost three deductions when the kids all decided to be grown ups and move out on their own....silly kids. Good news is that we are getting a refund....it's smaller than normal but still a refund.
Struggling to find time to run/jog/walk/crawl. I really need to get motivated and make it happen on a regular basis.

finally friday 23 - the one that could easily become a book
I haven't done a Finally Friday for a long time....heck, i haven't done much blogging over here for a long time. Sorry about that....I have managed to post fairly regularly over at That Disney Blog but I know many of you aren't Disney fanatics.
so here's a brief recap of my life lately:
1. Still working out ....walking/jogging (wogging) about 10 miles a week. Times are improving.
2. Still loving my job at the happiest place on earth. I am no longer "land-locked" so I get to work in stores all over the park. I like the variety but keeping up with all the costumes is a little intimidating.
3. It's a photography and theatre week....the youth theater we work for is doing "Wizard of Oz." Last night we took pictures of 69 cute little munchkins and one little kid that I wanted to kick over the freakin' rainbow.
4. I'm still driving the volkswagen....they want to "revisit the issue this summer when temperatures are hot again"....whatever. It's got 20,000 miles on it already and isn't going to be worth anything when they do finally take it back. (cuz the sunroof still doesn't work and it's not gonna fix itself during the cool months)
5. The kids seem to be enjoying their lives....

this week, i go back to work.....at the happiest place on earth....during the holiday season....it doesn't get much better than that.....=D

The things that caught my eye this week:
1. poor Lindsay Lohan....didn't really understand the terms of her probation and that mean old judge is making her go to jail. Mommy and Daddy are really upset too...."she needs rehab, not jail" "if she wasn't so famous, they would treat her differently".....
2. "King" Lebron James.....whatever....
3. California had another earthquake.....so California news (term used loosely) let anyone who felt it call in and share their stories...."it shook really hard and then it just stopped" "it seemed like it shook forever" "no, no damage" "it was scary"....this went on for almost 2 hours....my brain hurt.
4. someone is suing us and reporting us to the BBB and emailing us demanding money. the amounts requested for the same repair? $1335....$1600....$1000 we answered the one demanding the smallest amount and he agreed to that.
5. boy2 is driving to Alaska...he loaded up his car on Monday morning, waved goodbye and headed north. I went to see "Toy Story 3" Monday night...that was dumb...really dumb
6. That crazy Westbo...Bapt....Church is going to picket Comic-Con this year. because "the attendee's have made comic books into idols" I'm going just to take pictures of the signs that the comic con folks are bringing.
That's about it....starting the cleaning of the rooms after the kids cleaned out their rooms. I'm foreseeing a garage sale in the near future.

finally friday 21....the one where we start a wedding countdown
yep...let's be done with this last week and move on to the weekend. not a week that I want to write home about...health issues, grumpy people, stupid people, loads of passive-aggressive behavior, and just pretty much ICK!
things to do before the weekend can be enjoyed:

2. pay the event insurance
3. contact the caterer and set final numbers.....and pay her
4. ...see a theme here?
5. call the lighting guy
yep....today is all about the wedding. 16 days to go!
in other news, yesterday I couldn't take the ickiness anymore so I ran away to Disneyland. I was grumpy when I arrived, but God sent an angel in the form of a good friend and the day ended up being wonderful. There will be pics over at the other blog as soon as I have a chance to sit down and sort them. Lots happening at California Adventure with the World of Color opening this weekend. Girl1 saw it last night at the premiere with all the celebrities (and, yes, I was jealous).
All sorts of stars running around Disneyland all day...I'm so out of the loop that I couldn't tell you the names of most of them. Jami Lee Curtis, the guy who played "jack" on "Lost," a couple of soap opera stars, several otheres that people were pointing and staring at....i was told that Johnny Depp had been spotted but we never saw him...and trust me, we looked...lol
anyhoos...off to part with the rest of the wedding budget and enjoy the cool morning. have a fantastical weekend!!!!

Finally Friday20 -- some of this, some of that, and some of the other thing
It's Finally Friday. I spent much of yesterday thinking IT was Friday, so today doesn't seem like such a big deal. Time to wrap up the week and move on to the weekend.
Nothing really special this week.
1. I did a Disneyland trip on Monday. These are going to be harder to sneak in as the wedding gets closer.
2. Picture orders are trickling in slowly and that's frustrating. We're trying out on online ordering site and we expected the parents to order pretty quickly. Only 3 orders so far, but 60+ have visited the albums. We're offering 10% for the first 2 weeks, so hopefully that'll motivate them. So far there's about a 3 day turnaround on orders, so we're pleased--makes us look good.
3. We'll be at the theatre all weekend. We're taking the computers and offering to help the internet-challenged place their orders.
4. Girl1's bridal shower is tomorrow afternoon...looking forward to it.
5. Going to a memorial service in the morning...not looking forward to that so much.
6. Got a phone call from a customer/friend who has owed us money for about 5 years. (again..why do we offer to work for friends?) I'm making hubby1 call her back. I'm really not in the mood to deal with it.
7. We're 6 weeks and a couple days away from the BIG day...it's getting exciting!
8. Our garden is doing great...we actually had a dinner this week with fresh grown veggies. It was AWESOMENESS!!!
9. It's 10:20 and the puppies are still sleeping? It reminds me of the rare days when the babies didn't wake up at 6AM and I could enjoy a peaceful cup of coffee.
10. And, sadly, I think my iphone may be dying and I don't have the money to get another one, so i'll have to downgrade.

finally friday - the one with the sure things in life
You know the saying.. "only sure things in life are death and taxes." That's been the theme this week and quite honestly, I'm done with them both. The tax thing bugs me because the whole system is flawed. The death thing bugs me...well, you can probably figure it out.
On my way to a memorial service this morning. My daughter's co-worker (30yrs old) passed on Tuesday (a week before his baby is due). My best friend's mother also passed Tuesday. Another friend's father had a heart attack/stroke/aneuryism? yesterday...he's in ICU.

finally friday 19 -- nothing exciting here
yep it's Friday. the week has come and gone. I've been crazy busy but don't really have anything exciting to share. wasted alot of time trying to find a couple of flashdrives that I had last week but are now awol.
went to the dentist..again. there was a young man there with a couple of friends who were trying to convince the receptionist that he didn't need an xray..just some antibiotics and painkillers and he'd be fine. i didn't get the feeling that he was going to get painkillers no matter what was wrong with his tooth. The receptionist was telling him that it sounded like the infection was heading towards his brain and it would eventually kill him. Then I got called to the back, so I couldn't hear the outcome.
tried to run away to Disneyland but was it just didn't work out. maybe next week.
managed to go on a date with hubby1....always a good time.
the puppies are still cute. the offspring are still doing fine. wedding plans are moving along. life is good.

it's friday...the end of a week filled with wedding stuff.
Sunday - girl1's fitting and bridesmaid dress purchasing. I also managed to bonk my head on hubby1's truck and had a headache for 3 days. but other than that, it was a perfect day.
Monday - my head hurt and i was a little out of it all day. i think i managed to do some paperwork.
Tuesday - boy2 moved to Alaska. i had a dentist appt. a girlfriend took me out to lunch....cuz this week could have also been titled "girl time"
Wednesday - wedding invitations were assembled and envelopes addressed. just need to be stuffed and put in the mail. we're way ahead on this one. the bridesmaids and sil2b's family came over to help.
Thursday - jewelry party so girl1 could earn some free stuff. it was an awesome evening filled with irish coffee, chocolate, pretty jewelry and wonderful friends
Friday - bills, laundry, rest.....
tomorrow -- ALICE IN WONDERLAND AT THE IMAX!!!! with the girlfriends.....

Finally Friday16ish....the one with ADD
It's been awhile but here's a "write-it-down-and-get-it-out-of-my-head,so-I-can-focus-on-the-weekend" post. My brain is in list mode, so this will have to be also.
1. The menfolk will be back tomorrow evening. They've been snowboarding in Utah for a week.
2. Sunday I judged 2 musicals...."Alice in Wonderland" and "Rent: the student edition." Probably not the best combination of shows to see back-to-back and may I say (of course, I may...it's my blog) that I don't think that 14-19 year olds should be doing "Rent." They sang it okay but they don't really have the life experiences or maturity to perform it.
3. Captain EO has returned to Disneyland for a limited time. hahahahaha I saw it yesterday (yes, I was at Disneyland again..you can follow those adventures over there) My kids are gonna die when they see it....it really is bad (and not in the 80's good way). If you go to the park, take the time to experience it....just for kicks.
4. And on the subject of Disneyland, the Electrical Light Parade is leaving in April with no plans to bring it back to the west coast. This makes me sad.
5. I'm judging another show tonight..."Cinderella Enchanted"....I think I'm on musical overload.
6. Wedding plans are moving along. Invitations are printed and will be assembled on Wednesday. Bridesmaids dresses are being purchased (hopefully) on Sunday. We met with the caterer and are just waiting for her estimate. Music is being selected. We're pretty much just passing time until the big day.
7. Boy2 is moving to Alaska on Tuesday. Homer, Alaska. Good thing he likes snow. Crazy kid.
8. best blog line of the morning: release my inner Godzilla upon Internet Tokyo go ahead....check it out, I'll wait. but you have to promise to come back...

finally friday14 - the one where i'm not here
that's right....i'm not even here...hahahaha
i'm at disneyland this morning helping a friend celebrate her birthday. this evening, a different friend meeting me at the parks to celebrate it being Friday (we don't really have to look too hard to find a reason to go to disneyland...mondays, tuesdays, new hair cut...they all work).
this week in a quick recap:
ordered girl1's wedding dress and ya'll have to wait til june to see it. sorry...she really wants the groom to be surprised.
puppies have pretty much chewed up everything in their kennel. time to move out them out to the big dog yard.
pittsburgh lost....again...kinda embarrassing to have the same record as the raiders.
and that's about it! don't forget about the contest/giveaway at Thumper Awards. winners to be announced on monday.
finally friday13 -- the one with nothing special
it's friday...and here's the semi-regular "wrap it up and toss it out" post. i really don't have much to wrap up. i have to pay bills today because the dentist appt took up the normally scheduled give away my money time. but i really haven't done anything interesting this week.
we went to disney on sunday for girl1's 21st birthday.
i ordered a cool lens for my camera.
went to the dentist to see how much more pain he could inflict. i'm excited about having a nice smile but it is going to be a long 18 months. today the "nubbies" were attached to my teeth. they are suppose to put more pressure on so the teeth move quicker. it basically just means more dull pain in my mouth and now the aligners are even harder to remove. "it's worth it....it's worth it.....it's worth it...."

finally friday12 - the one with a tv and an engagement
the week is done and it's time for another "wrap it up and toss it out" post.....so here goes:
we bought a new tv and eventually will get the remote(s) all straightened out. why did we buy a new tv? cuz it's football season and ours died in the middle of Monday Night Football. Soooo NOT okay! i had to listen to both games on my new 52" radio and football is not the same without the picture.
on tuesday, after we bought the tv, we hiked over to Chili's and enjoyed another fabulous dinner. not because Chili's has the greatest food in the world, but because all the family members living in california were there and it doesn't happen very often. an evening of laughter and crazy stories..i treasure those moments.
i also got braces on tuesday which made dinner painful but i'm surviving. 46 yrs old with braces....what was i thinking? oh! i remember! i was thinking --"man, when did my teeth get all cattywhompus? ewwwwww...fix those things..."
wednesday was a "clean the house and whine about how much my teeth hurt" day.
thursday...fiasco at the dog groomers. but Guido now looks beautiful and it was 50% off. and then the big ENGAGEMENT....so excited for girl1 and SIL2B
and it's FRIDAY! lalalalalalalalala gotta buy some dogfood and that's about it.
niece is coming to hang for a little bit tomorrow...haven't seen her for awhile. and then dland on Sunday to celebrate girl1's 21st birthday. such a big week for her!!!! are we the only ones that think having your first legal drink at disneyland is a little funny? acohol and disney just doesn't click in my brain but they make a decent margarita over in California Adventure.

finally friday11 - the one with a funk and some puppies
it's FRIDAY!!!! and I, for one, am glad to put this week behind me. so here's the semi-regular "wrap-it-up and toss-it-out" post.
the week started with me in a whopper of a funk. thankfully, mine are like my labors. they don't last long but they are REALLY intense. so thanks for all the kind words and prayers..i've pulled back, refocused and am ready to face the world again.
the puppies are adjusting and we're having a great time discovering their personalities. the female (still not named) has a thing for water. keeping the water dish full is becoming quite a challenge. they aren't drinking it, she's splashing in it. the boy has been christened "swagger-jack" by the menfolk. the womenfolk are just calling him "jack" and he's still adorable.
boy1's apartment was broken into last night. two roommates lost laptops. thankfully, his room was locked and nothing was taken. i feel soooo bad for the roommates. college is hard enough without stuff like this. we're trying to get a couple of computers donated for them or at least some cash to help buy new ones.
fires are still burning throughout the southland. a new one started this morning. my throat hurts from the smoke and my allergies are out of control. and we're not technically into fire season yet.
after i pay the bills and do a couple of quick errands, i'll be ready for the holiday weekend. we're thinking a day out on the ocean....any place cooler than 103.

finally friday10 - the one where celebrities act stupid
yes, another "wrap it up and get it out of my head, so i can enjoy the weekend" post. i can't believe it's Friday already. it's been one of those weeks where the days have just blended together to become a blur.
so...this week we had a photoshoot for our favorite company. next week will be spent putting together their proof books and selling pictures. hopefully, this job will pay for tiling the entryway.
hubby is in a shark tournament this weekend, so we haven't seen him at all. he's been trading out the lobster equipment on the boat to shark hunting gear. i'm not sure what that really means and i'm not sure i want to know.
boy1 and girl1 are finishing up their last semester at the junior college. boy2 is finishing up is last year of high school. yep, we have 3 graduates this year. woohoo! with boy2's graduation, our homeschooling years will come to an end. not sure how i feel about that.....
this week Paula Abdul started her publicity campaign for her new cd. she "sang" and "danced" on Idol and confessed her addiction to pain meds. ya'll know how i feel about her. 'nuff said.
and then there's Manny. being a SoCal girl, I should probably care more about how this all affects the Dodgers. I don't. I think they paid too much for someone who has been demonstrating strange behavior and they knew what they were getting. If they didn't know, then they are just stupid.
If I hear one more person say "poor Manny," I'm going to punch them in the face. Manny is far from poor. He knew exactly what he was doing. He got caught. Deal with it. I am thankful to him for the conversations about drugs and steroids that I have had with young athletes because of his choice of banned substance. Young men seem particularly upset by some of the steroid side effects that he was trying to remedy.
and then there's the Santa Barbara wildfire.. this one is bad....really bad. My heart goes out to the people in that area. The terrain is horrendous for fighting fires...and it hasn't burned for awhile. Thousands of people displaced....hundreds of homes damaged or destroyed....firefighters severely burned....sad day....
i really need a disneyland day....maybe this evening...
i really want to see Star Trek and The Soloist...

finally friday9 - the one where we get a good night's rest
wow...i haven't done a finally friday in what seems like forever. so here is a "wrap it up and throw it out so i can enjoy the weekend" post.
i haven't finished invoicing this week so i have to do them today. once they are in the mail, i'm pretty much done with the week's list of stuff.
still waiting for switch plates for the lovely bedroom.
there's a couple of spots of paint that need to be touched up in the bathroom....don't know how i missed them.
but that's it!
jim is flying out this afternoon to visit his dad for the weekend. boy1 is in a show so he's gone. girl1 is working way too many hours and boy2 is going to the river with friends. so the weekend is MINE, all mine.....to do whatever I want-whenever I want. these weekends are good for my soul. it is quite possible that you will not see me at all until monday......or that i'll sit on the couch with chocolate and great coffee and visit a million blogs....who knows?! lol

done with the H1N1 flu ...... 257 confirmed cases world-wide.....seriously?.... a little perspective here would be appreciated
may day marches......fighting for immigrants' rights.... don't get me started.....they want legal status for illegal immigrants. i like how folks feel that they can choose which laws to obey. aaaaarrrrrrrrrggggghhhhh..
okay....too nice of a day to get on my soapbox...
boy2 is really struggling with graduating from high school--not with grades but with the idea of "growing up." he won't be 18 until november, so he is young and he doesn't feel ready for college. so being the cool parents that we are, we told him to take a year off and start college later. you should have seen the weight of the world lift off his shoulders. poor kid.
still haven't found the flooring for the entryway.....should it be this difficult? my tile guy is soooo frustrated. he's now bringing samples to the house. there were 3 more on the doorstep when we got home last night. =D
and, let me tell you, a new mattress is a WONDERFUL thing. waking up without a backache is magical.
and that's it....nothing else even remotely interesting floating around in my brain. so i'm outa here!

finally friday8 - the one where boy2 gets a mullet
yep it's time for my weekly wrap up so i can wrap my brain (guilt-free) around the weekend.
big news this week was definitely the mullet. ya'll saw it, right? just in case (and because i think he looks great even with the stupid hair cut), here it is again:

other than the tribute to the 80's, not much going on. i spent most of the week in the garden. i'll be finishing up today but i have to go buy more seeds. the flowerbed was MUCH longer than i remembered and i have the sore, achy shoulder muscles to prove it. some day i'm going to get my rototiller fixed but until then, i get a great workout every spring.
saw Tayor Hicks in "Grease" on Tuesday. dinner was delicious and it was fun to catch up with some friends. yep.....that's about all I have to say about the current touring production.
bills are paid and house is reasonably clean, so i can pretty much start my weekend today. woohoo!
Disneyland next thursday with about 20 crazy friends. looking forward to it!!!!!
and don't forget this:
